Slide Up Gift Card Holder

In this post I am going to show you how to make the other gift card holder from our video with the dimensions to either make it with just a patterned paper or you can use a solid color and mats

First you will need your main piece of paper to measure 11 x 4, your slider sheet that will measure 2 3/4 x 5, and a small pocket piece that measures 1 1/2 x 2 3/4. (If you are going to use a solid color and then mat with a patterened piece you will need to cut 3 pieces in the following measurements        2 7/8 x 2 1/8       2 7/8 x 3 3/8        2 7/8 x 5 1/8)

Score the slider sheet at 1/2 inch on the 5 inch side. Score your main sheet at 1/2 inch on the 4 inch side, turn completely and score the other side at 1/2 inch as well. Then score at 2 1/4 inch and 7 1/2 inch on the 11 inch side.

Next you want to trim the sides of the main piece as shown below leaving a piece that is about 3 inches long on inch side in the middle section, then apply scor tape on the outside of the tabs that are left. Fold the tabs in and then fold up the largest section which is 3 1/2 inches to form a pocket.

Next apply 1/4 inch scor tape to the 1/2 flap you made when you scored the slider sheet. On the pocket piece apply 1/8 inch scor tape on three sides and then attach to the bottom of your slider piece to form a pocket. (If you don’t want to use a pocket here you can just attach the gift card using adhesive dots)

At this point you want to go ahead and fold the tab on the slider piece over to crease your score line and then lay it flat again. Line the top of that piece up at the top of your pocket as shown below, centered left to right, with the bottom stuck down into the pocket. Pull off the backing on the scor tape and then fold the top flap down so that the scor tape sticks to your top flap. Now when you open your pocket the slider piece will come up.

Next you want to add some way of closing your folder. I am using a decorative element that is taped down with the top edge holding down the flap (I was worried that using a magnet might mess up the strip on the gift card)
